Suspect, Jason Howard, arrested in connection with murder of family

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Jason HOWARD as a suspect in the murders of Mildred and Jewel Cleveland who lived at 6006 Highway 196 West, Hinesville, Ga. The Cleveland's were found to have been killed and their bodies buried in a shallow grave on their property in April 2004.

Jason HOWARD was arrested by Macon Police when he was stopped as he broke into some vehicles at a local business in Macon.

At the time of the arrest, Jason Howard was reportedly living on the street and in a homeless shelter in the Macon area.

He was returned to Liberty County on 13 April 2009, after charges against him in Macon were placed on hold pending the outcome of the murder charges in Liberty County. He remains in Liberty County jail with bond denied at the current time.

In August 2006, John Walsh and Americas Most Wanted aired an episode in which this murder was featured. The show was repeated numerous time over the past years and numerous leads were called in by viewers. America's Most Wanted film crews were on hand to document the return of Jason Howard to Liberty County when he was returtned on 13 April 2009.
